When Maxine escapes her own wedding, she takes refuge at a Florida hotel populated by an owner who dropped out of hotel school, a resentful maid, and an elusive ghost — The Baron Von Steeplestrudel.

Farm Boys
When he unexpectedly inherits a small farm in his hometown, John leaves New York City to travel to central Wisconsin. Judged by a community fearful of homosexuality and pressured to sell the property, John must ultimately question where he and his partner can create a home for themselves. The Most Unlikely Places
As a young woman, Cameo traveled the globe in search of rare orchids. Now, twenty years later, she lives in Florida with an extraordinary greenhouse, fantasies of a pirate who steals flowers, and two daughters, Cristata and Cattleya, both named after orchids. Commissioned by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
